Developmental Education

Our Approach

Developmental Educators (DEs) are university qualified allied health professionals who empower individuals with a disability.  Through specialised training, Developmental Educators primarily focus on supporting neurodivergent individuals and their families.

Rachel currently holds full registration with Developmental Educators Australia after completing a Master of Autism in 2025.

Where do we work?

At Blossoming Minds Developmental Therapy, Rachel works holistically providing therapeutic support in clinic and across the client's environments including early childhood settings, schools, and home.

Developmental Educators:

  • Provide neuro-affirming evidence-based practices.
  • Scaffolding self-determination, self-regulation and independence.
  • Expanding on crucial social emotional learning skills (SEL).
  • Supporting communication and self-advocacy.
  • Expanding window of tolerance.
  • Building flexibility and supporting transitions.
  • Assisting interoception awareness and connection.
  • Identifying and reducing environmental and social impacts to support inclusion.
  • Support families at disability support meetings held at schools and early childhood settings.

Can I use NDIS Funding?

Developmental Educators are currently recognised by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) as Disability Specialists. As such, Registered Developmental educators can usually provide supports for participants that align with their disability related goals.

Blossoming Minds Developmental Therapy can currently provide therapeutic supports for Self or Plan Managed NDIS participants.
